John Bartholomew and son half-inch contoured map.Sheet 25, England, Fenland.It has the Duncan Street Edinburgh address, which dates it to post 1911.This particular edition is 1947.Printed on paper and then cloth backed.Bartholomew based their half-inch maps on more detailed Ordnance Survey mapping at one-inch to the mile (1:63,360). These maps were more convenient to use whilst out walking, due to their reduced size, the paper was cloth backed for added strength and protection, The firm had published ‘Reduced Ordnance Maps’ of Scotland, England and Wales at this scale from the 1890s. These maps were progressively revised and updated with new information.An interesting example of mid 20th century cartography, it could be mounted in a frame for display.I aim to get your items to you as quickly as I can.
